Zucchini – Jackpot, Hybrid Bush

(1 customer review)

$2.49

This variety is earlier producing and more prolific than standard types of green zucchini. Jackpot bears a high yield of long smooth cylindrical fruit over an extended period of time. This popular early summer squash has many uses. It’s especially tasty in salads, cooked, baked, fried or in zucchini bread. Approximately 50 days to first harvest.

Availability: 72 in stock

SOWING: Sow seeds directly in the garden in late spring after weather has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. Seeds can also be started in individual peat pots indoors or in the greenhouse 2 to 3 weeks before setting out. Cover seeds with 1/2 to 3/4 inch fine soil firmed down.

SPACING: Plant 6 to 8 seeds per hill spaced 3 to 4 feet apart. Space rows 3 feet apart.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Thin or transplant to 3 healthiest plants per hill. Leave 18 to 24 inches between plants in rows.

GERMINATION: One to two weeks depending upon weather and soil warmth. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed’s Special Advice: Plant in a sunny location with well fertilized soil kept fairly moist. An exceptionally easy vegetable to grow. Cut fruit carefully when young for best texture and to ensure continued harvest. Avoid over-watering, over-fertilizing or spraying the foliage or blossoms with water.

Definitely early & productive, and withstood our long wet spring and and surprise early heat wave. Next year I will plant one of these to jump start the season, but leave space for Dark Star, which has better flavor and texture.
