SOWING: Plant seeds outdoors mid-spring to midsummer. Rich, fertile soil preferred. Cover seeds with ¼ inch fine soil. Seed 2 to 4 inches apart.
THINNING: When seedlings are 2 inches high, thin to 6 to 8 inches apart.
SPACING: Leave 12 to 18 inches between rows.
GERMINATION: Approximately one to two weeks. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Best used as a fall crop for winter storage. Seed 3 to 3 1/2 months before first fall frost. When roots are full-grown, pull them, cut off tops within 1 inch of crown and store. Will keep until late spring. Water regularly during summer.
