An early maturing flavorful nutritious vegetable. Leaves are mild flavored, smooth and dark green. Usually cooked as greens but can be used raw in salads like spinach. As easy to grow as it is rich in vitamins and minerals. Approximately 40 days to maturity.

SOWING: Sow from early spring through fall. Cover seed with 1/4 inch fine soil. Sow at 2 week intervals for continued harvest.

SPACING: Space rows about 18 inches apart or closer if limited in space.

THINNING: Thin plants gradually to 6 inches apart in rows. Enjoy thinned greens in a salad.

GERMINATION: One to two weeks. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed’s Special Advice: Grows best during the cooler parts of the growing season but will take some heat. Harvest outer leaves when young for best flavor leaving inner leaves to grow out. Prefers fairly rich well drained soil kept somewhat moist.
