SOWING: Cover seeds with 1/8 inch of fine soil firmed down. Seed indoors from late winter, or sow carefully outdoors late spring through summer in a location that will be undisturbed.
SPACING: Leave about 18 to 24 inches between established plants.
TRANSPLANTING: Carefully transplant from flats or pots to the garden when seedlings are well established.
GERMINATION: Three to four weeks indoors. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Plant in sunny location with well drained soil. Mature plants thrive on a certain amount of neglect. Cut flowers when fully open. Hang them upside down in a shady well ventilated place. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for drying.
