Zucchini – Round Summer Squash

SOWING: Seed directly into the garden in late spring after the weather has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. Cover seeds with l/2 inch of fine soil.

SPACING: Plant 4 to 6 seeds in hills spaced 3 to 4 feet apart or space rows about 3 feet apart.

THINNING: When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall thin to 3 sturdiest plants per hill. In rows, thin to 18 inches apart.

GERMINATION: Approximately 1 to 2 weeks depending upon weather and soil warmth. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed’s Special Advice: Zucchini grows best in well-drained fairly rich soil kept moderately moist. Pick fruit when young for best flavor, texture and continued production, softball size work best for stuffing. An easy-to-grow and unusual addition to your home garden.
