SOWING: Sow directly into the garden as soon as soil is workable in early spring. For continual harvest make successive plantings at 3-week intervals until mid spring. Sow seeds 2 inches apart in rows. Cover with 1 inch of soil.
SPACING: Leave 2 to 2 1/2 feet between rows; slightly closer if limited for space.
GERMINATION: Completely dependent upon outdoor temperatures and soil warmth. Usually 1 to 2 weeks.
Ed’s Special Advice: Although a little shorter than original sugar snap, it is wise to provide pole, trellis or string support when its climbing vines are 3 to 6 inches tall. Strip out strings from pods prior to eating. Pods freeze well for later use. In mild weather areas Super Sugar Snap can be started in late July or early August for a fall crop.
SEED SAVING: Allow pods to dry completely before removing them from the plant. Store seeds in cool, dry place.
