SOWING: Plant seed directly outdoors in early spring. Cultivate soil, mix seeds with a cup of sand and broadcast lightly over planting area. Lightly rake into soil or cover with light soil to a depth of 1/16 inch. Can be sown-in fall in mild winter areas.

THINNING: When plants are 2 inches high, thin to 8 to 12 inches apart. Does not transplant well.

GERMINATION: 10 days to 2 weeks at 55 F. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed’s Special Advice: Plant in a sunny location with well drained soil. Once plants are well established, water only as needed. Thrives on a certain amount of neglect For cut flowers, cut stem just before buds open and sear stem end in flame immediately. For prolonged color sow successive plantings and remove old flower bases. May re-sow.
