Peas – Mammoth Melting Sugar, Snow Pea, Semi-Pole

$2.29

Large, sweet pods, excellent for stir-fry. Great to eat right out of the garden or in salads as well. Growth to 4 feet or more depending upon growing conditions. 65-70 days to maturity.

Availability: 48 in stock

SOWING: Sow directly into the garden in early spring as soon as the soil is workable. Sow seeds 2 inches apart and cover with 1 to 1 1/2 inches of fine soil firmed down. Sow successive plantings at 3-week intervals until early May. Sow late July to early August for fall harvest.

SPACING: Leave 2 to 2 1/2 feet between rows. Can be grown in wide rows sowing seeds 2 inches apart in all directions.

GERMINATION: Completely dependent upon outdoor temperatures and soil warmth, usually one to two weeks. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed’s Special Advice: Harvest pods daily as they are most tender and delicious when eaten young with pods still fairly flat. Provide some string, fence, or trellis support to keep vines off the ground and conserve garden space. When possible, plant rows in a north-south direction for best sun exposure and good air circulation. Sow for fall crop in late July.
