SOWING: Sow outside in sunny location in rich, well-drained soil, after danger of frost has passed. Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart; in rows 16 inches apart. Firm soil over seed.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Carefully thin or transplant seedlings 3 to 4 inches apart. Use thinned plants dried or fresh.
GERMINATION: 2 to 3 weeks depending upon soil warmth. For a continuous crop, sow seeds successively every two weeks, into the fall. Don’t grow cilantro in full sun during the heat of summer or the plants will quickly go to seed.
Ed’s Special Advice: Leaves may be picked sparingly as plant grows, or more severely if growing for leaves only. Gather seeds as they ripen to use whole or crushed. Leaves may be used chopped or whole, fresh or dried. Protect plants from wind.
