General Information: Birdscare Flash Tape™ works by reflecting sunlight. When applied in a spiral, any wind movement causes the alternating red and silver sides to flash brilliantly. This seems to signal danger to the birds, who may associate it with fire. It has proven effective in a wide variety of crop and garden applications. For best results install just before crop starts to ripen, and remove when crop is harvested as birds may become used to its presence over a period of time. For persistent long-term bird problems it may be necessary to move tape around to provide different looks and use in conjunction with other methods of bird control.

Installation Information: Insert fingers into cardboard center as if putting on a bracelet. Secure one end, then pay out tape by walking down the row with arm extended to the rear. This causes the tape to spiral like fishing line coming off a spinning reel. Adjust tension just enough to remove slack (without removing spiral), then tie off. In general, try to place tape ABOVE crop to be protected.

Row Trees and Crops: Secure tape from stakes, posts, or irrigation risers every 10-30 ft. down the row. Place above every row, or every second or third row for close rows like strawberries or begetables. If placing above the crop isn’t possible, run tape down row tying periodically to outer upper branches. Another method is to suspend tape above the entire garden area on tall bamboo poles spaced to form a 10 ft. wide protective grid.

Free-Standing Fruit Trees: Suspending tape above the trees works best. When not possible, tie one end to lower branch and loosely spiral wrap from bottom to top. One roll will cover approx. 2-3 med. size trees. Other methods include flocking individual branches with 2-4 ft. long strips or making pompom bunches and hanging them throughout the garden.

Other Uses: Helps keep ducks, geese, and gulls off waterfront lawns and docks, and birds away from lawn seedlings. Place 5-10 ft. above ground on stakes or poles in rows 10 ft. apart. To keep seagulls away from boats run tape down from mast or railing to other convenient points near top of craft. Protects fish ponds and rearing pens from bird deprivation when strung above the water. It is also used for displays, roping off and protecting newly planted areas.

CAUTION: Do not use this product around power lines or other sources of electricity.
