SOWING: Sow indoors 4 to 5 weeks before the last frost. 40 degrees is ideal. Cover with 1/4 inch fine soil. Leave 12 to 18 inches between rows.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Transplant outdoors 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost after hardening off. When seedlings are 2 to 4 inches high, thin to 12 inches apart.
GERMINATION: Approximately 2 weeks or more, depending upon weather. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Okra does best in warm climates or the greenhouse. Water regularly and fertilize when 6″ tall. To assure best quality, harvest pods when about 3 to 4 inches long and use as soon as possible.

Last season was my first time growing okra, they are on sturdy stalks and produced tons of okra and to my surprise they had beautiful blossoms that looked like hibiscus flowers (I didn’t realize they were in the same plant family)
