SOWING: For an early start, seed indoors in early spring. Seed outdoors when danger of severe frost has passed. Cover with 1/8 inch fine soil.
SPACING: Space rows 15 to 18 inches apart.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches high, thin or transplant to 6 to 8 inches apart.
GERMINATION: Approximately 10 to 14 days, depending upon soil and weather conditions. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: For best flavor, harvest when 2 to 2 1/2 inches across. Excellent for early and late crops. Seed outdoors several times from April to August. Fertilize and keep fairly well watered. Grows best during the cooler part of the growing season.
SEED SAVING: Biennial. Overwinter and isolate from other brassicas during second year. Allow seed pods to dry and ripen before harvesting. Store in a cool, dry place.
