SOWING: Sow seeds directly into the garden in early spring. Plant seed in a trench 6 inches deep and cover with 1 inch of soil. As plants become established fill in trench gradually.
SPACING: Thin established plants 4 to 6 inches apart.
GERMINATION: 10 to 20 days. soak seeds overnight for quicker germination. Keep soil moderately moist.
Ed’s Special Advice: Sweet peas grow best in a sunny location with cultivated, rich, moist, well-drained soil. If possible, plant rows in a North-South direction for best sun exposure and air circulation. Old Spice is a climber so provide a trellis or other support for its vines. Harvest cut flowers to prolong bloom period.
