SOWING: Sow seeds directly into the garden in early spring. Plant seed in a trench 6 inches deep and cover with 1 inch of soil. As plants become established fill in trench gradually.
SPACING: Thin established plants 4 to 6 inches apart.
GERMINATION: 10to 20days. Soak seeds overnight for quicker germination. Keep soil moderately moist.
Ed’s Special Advice: Sweet peas grow best in a sunny location with cultivated, rich, moist, well drained soil. Provide string or trellis support when vines are 3 to 6 inches tall. Harvesting cut flowers and keeping spent blooms picked will help prolong flowering period.
