Sweet Marjoram – Marjoram Hortensis

An annual form of oregano with aromatic sweet, flavorful leaves. It can be used fresh or dried. An ideal herb in meat dishes, with poultry, vegetables, soups, salads, and jellies.

Availability: 83 in stock

SOWING: Sow indoors in March or outdoors after all danger of frost. Cover seeds with 1/8-inch fine soil. Space rows 18 inches apart or use in group plantings.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When 1 to 2 inches tall, thin to 12 to 15 inches. Transplant thinned plants.

GERMINATION: Approx. 2 to 3 weeks, depending upon soil and weather conditions.

Ed’s Special Advice: Plant near the kitchen door so plants will be handy to use. For winter use: cut on dry day when flowers are fully open. Hang in cool, well-ventilated room. When dry, remove leaves from stems. Seal leaves in wide-mouthed jars or bottles.
