SOWING: After all danger of frost has passed, sow seed directly outdoors. Cover seeds with 1/2 inch of light soil.
SPACING: Leave approximately 2 feet between plants.
GERMINATION: Approximately 2 weeks, depending on soil warmth and weather conditions. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Largest flowers and tallest plants are obtained when sunflowers are grown in full sun, in somewhat rich soil kept fairly well watered. To save seeds, cut flower head when mature and dry in a cool, well-ventilated spot. When dry, individual seeds can be lightly roasted on a cookie sheet in the oven.

Sunflower – Mammoth Grey Stripe Organic
$2.59
Fascinating plant for children. Giant plants produce huge flowers and seed heads. Tall plants make for an excellent summer privacy screen or background plants. Birds love the seeds. A real conversation piece.
