SOWING: Seed is very small. For early seedling plants, start seeds indoors from February to April. Or seed outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Leave seeds exposed to the light; do not cover them with soil.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches high, thin to 9 to 12 inches apart. Replant thinned plants.
GERMINATION: 10 to 14 days, depending upon soil and weather conditions.
Ed’s Special Advice: The plants prefer a well-drained soil in a sunny location. Keep plants moderately moist. It is not unusual for the plants to winter-over and become perennials, if winters are mild.
