SOWING: Seed winter varieties outside in late spring through mid summer. Barely cover seeds with fine soil. Water seed by misting.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When plants are 1 inch high, thin and replant 4 to 6 inches apart.
SPACING: Plant 4 to 6 inches apart in all directions for mass display.
GERMINATION: Approximately 10 to 14 days at temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Will begin producing flowers 12 to 16 weeks from seeding time.
Ed’s Special Advice: Plants will grow and flower best in partial sun and shade. Keep dead flowers picked so they do not go to seed and stop blooming. Plants prefer rich soil kept moderately moist. Pansies are well suited to container planting. Combines well with Spring-flowering bulbs as well as shade tolerant plants.
