SOWING: Plant seed directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For earlier blossoms, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds 3 inches apart and cover seed with 1/16-inch fine soil, firmed down.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When plants are 2 inches high, thin or transplant to 12 to 18 inches apart outdoors. Transplant seedlings started indoors outside after danger of frost has passed.
GERMINATION: 10 to 20 days at 68°F. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: For bushier plants with more blooms, pinch stem off above set of leaves when plants are about 6 inches tall. Plant in sunny or lightly shaded location in fairly rich soil kept somewhat moist (especially during hot weather).
