SOWING: Sow seeds in place after all danger of frost has passed and weather has warmed considerably. Cover seed with 1/4 inch fine soil. Seed can also be started indoors in individual peat pots, 3 to 4 weeks before setting out.

THINNING AND SPACING: Leave about 2 feet between plants, leaving strongest seedlings. Harden off established peat pot started seedlings and carefully transplant after weather has warmed.

GERMINATION: 10 to 20 days. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed’s Special Advice: Plant in an area with full sun, in average, well-drained soil. Heat and drought tolerant once established. Water fairly regularly when plants are young. Works well in the rear of the planting beds. Deer do not bother Tithonia. Pinch off flower heads for extended bloom period.
