SOWING: Barely cover seeds with fine soil, firming seed into the soil with the back of your hand. Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost for earlier blooms, or sow seeds directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Thin or carefully transplant young seedlings 6 to 8 inches apart. Harden off indoor-started seedlings and transplant after danger of frost has passed.
GERMINATION: 10 to 20 days depending upon weather and soil conditions. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Plants grow best in a sunny location in average, well-drained soil. Keep plants fairly well watered and avoid spraying foliage. Remove blossoms as they fade to prolong blooming period. Plants may reseed or live over in mild winter climates.
