SOWING: Seed directly outdoors throughout the spring, barely cover the seed with 1/16 inch fine soil. It can be sown in the fall in mild winter areas.
THINNING AND SPACING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin to 8 to 10 inches apart. Clarkia does not transplant well.
GERMINATION: 5 to 10 days, keep the soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: This annual grows and flowers best when planted in a mostly sunny spot in cool climates. Plants thrive in well-drained soil and require limited care. Water when dry until flowering commences. Shear back plants halfway when flowering has ceased for possible later blooming.
