SOWING: Start seed indoors or in the greenhouse in early spring. Can also be sown directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil.
SPACING AND THINNING: Space rows 2 feet apart. Leave about 12 inches between seedlings.
TRANSPLANTING: Transplant indoor started seedlings outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
GERMINATION: 2 to 3 weeks depending upon soil and weather conditions. Keep seedbed moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Celery grows best in deep, rich, moist well drained soil. Keep well watered especially during hot weather and fertilize monthly. Outer stalks can be harvested as plant matures. Celery is rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber.
