Popular variety for home gardens. Ideal vegetable for eating fresh or cooked. Nice to use in salads, soups, stews or as a garnish. Approximately 75 days till maturity. Approximately 500 seeds per packet.

SOWING: Seed directly into vegetable garden as soon as soil is workable. Cover seeds with 1/8 inch fine soil.

THINNING: When plants are 2-4 inches tall, thin to 2 to 3 inches apart.

SPACING: Rows can be spaced 15-18 inches apart, or much closer if limited for space. In beds 2-4 inches apart in all directions.

GERMINATION: 2 weeks in temperature of 60 degrees F. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed’s Special Advice: Plant at 2 or 3 week intervals for continual harvest. Planting can continue until mid-July. Carrots grow best in a sunny location with rich light soil and regular thorough watering. For best results, fertilize and cultivate soil prior to planting to a depth of 12 inches.

SEED SAVING: Carrots flower and seed in their second year of growth. After flowering, allow greens to brown, then cut from plant and hang to completely dry, up to two weeks. Strip seeds from flower heads and store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place.
