SOWING: Start seeds indoors in late winter or early Spring. Cover seeds with 1/8 inch fine soil in individual pots. Seeds can also be sown directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Space plants 2 to 3 feet apart in rows 3 to 4 feet apart. Transplant indoor started plants outdoors after danger of frost
GERMINATION: Approximately 2 weeks depending upon weather and soil conditions. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Plants prefer a sunny location in rich well drained soil where summers are cool and winters are moderate. A successful crop cannot be depended upon elsewhere. Protect from aphids. Cut back yellowed stocks and mulch to protect from winter cold.
