SOWING: Sow seeds into into a flat or other container with one or two inches of organic potting mix. Scatter seeds evenly about 1/4 inch apart across surface. Firm seeds into soil with the back of your hand. Water carefully by misting.
GROWING: Place flat in a sunny window, balcony, greenhouse or garden. Water as needed. Snip stems carefully with scissors when ready. Harvest plants all at once or cut larger plants as they grow.
GERMINATION: Keep planting medium moderately moist during germination. Seeds include Lettuce, Brassicas, Spinach, Beet Greens, Mustard, Radish and various herbs.
Ed’s Special Advice: Harvest young plants just before use or store in a container in the refrigerator. Enjoy them in a salad, sandwiches, juiced or top your favorite dish with young greens. Discard potting mix into your compost pile after harvest. Sterilize the flat and repeat the process. Grow Miner’s Lettuce indoors during winter for year round nutrition.
