Lupine – Russell’s Mixture

$1.99

Perennial – Permanent Plant – Height 3 to 4 feet

Colorful spike flowers stand out above attractive cut-leaf foliage. Bright, richly-colored flowers are especially nice background plants in borders and for massing.

Availability: 87 in stock

SOWING: Seed indoors from February to April in individual peat pots for early start. Or seed outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Cover seeds with 1/4 inch fine soil. Soak seeds overnight, before planting.

THINNING AND SPACING: Thin when plants are 2 to 3 inches high. Replant at least 18 inches apart. Thinning must be done when plants are young; sometimes hard to transplant.

GERMINATION: Approx. 3 weeks, depending upon soil and weather conditions.

Ed’s Special Advice: When possible sow seeds in permanent location. Lupine grow especially well in the marine climate of the Pacific Northwest. Where summers are hot, plant in an area with afternoon shade. They can also be sown in summer for blooms the following year.
