SOWING: Sow seeds directly into the garden from early Spring through Summer. Cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil, firmed down.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Carefully thin or transplant seedlings 3 to 4 inches apart. Use thinned plants dried or fresh.
GERMINATION: About 10 to 14 days. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Plant in full sun in fairly rich and well-drained soil. Keep plants well watered in summer. Divide crowded clumps every 2 years. Harvest out leaves, cutting just about ground level with a knife. Use leaves fresh or dry them, but harvest before plants flower as they lose flavor and texture after that point.
