SOWING: Plant seed directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Cover seeds with 1/2 inch fine soil. Seed can be started earlier indoors in individual peat pots 4-6 weeks before last expected frost.
SPACING AND THINNING: Allow 12 inches between thinned or individually potted seedlings for transplant.
GERMINATION: One to two weeks depending upon weather and soil conditions. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed’s Special Advice: Four O’Clocks are heat resistant and tolerant of poor soil. Plants can often reseed themselves or grow back from their tuberous roots. For ideal conditions, select a sunny location in somewhat fertile well drained soil and water when dry in the summer. Blooms mid summer to fall, sometimes in different shades of color on the same plant.
