TITHONIA Mexican Sunflower Annual - One Season Plant - Height: 3 feet The first dwarf Mexican sunflower, 'Fiesta Del Sol' thrives on summer heat and humidity attaining a mature height of 2-3 feet.  The single orange daisy flowers are 2-3 inches across.  They make excellent cut flowers and may attract butterflies.  There are an abundance of daisy flowers so that you can cut many for informal boquets and numerous flowers will remain on the plant for the wildlife. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Select a sunny location with rich soil and plant after all danger of frost has passed. Cover seeds with 1/4inch of fine soil. THINNING & SPACING: When seedling plants are about 2 inches tall thin to about 12 inches apart. Carefully replant thinned plants. LOCATION: Grow in full sun if possible, in soil that is well drained. GERMINATION: 2 to 3 weeks at 70 degrees. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Grows best in a sunny spot with rich garden soil. Basically pest free, not even deer find the hairy leaves of Tithonia rotundifolia worth eating.  Water as necessary and pinch off flower heads to prolong blooming into the fall.  Easy to grow and care free.
