Summer Squash Mix

SQUASH Harvest Blend (Summer Bush Varieties)

A fun, economical way to enjoy many different types in your garden. For a continued and varied harvest, plant a few seeds every couple weeks. Stretch the sowing season (weather permitting) from early May to mid July (depending upon area).

Special Directions for Short Season Climates

SOWING: Sow directly into the garden in late spring through early summer when all danger of frost has passed and weather has warmed. Plant seed 1/2 inch deep covering with fine soil.

SPACING:
Plant about 6 seeds per hill spaced 3 to 4 feet apart or space rows 3 feet apart.

THINNING:
When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall thin to 3 sturdiest plants per hill. In rows thin plants to 18 inches apart.

GERMINATION:
1 to 2 weeks depending upon weather. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed's Special Advice

Plant in sunny location in rich, well-drained soil. Keep fairly well watered and fertilize monthly, but avoid constant overwatering and continual use of high-nitrogen fertilizers. For continued harvest, pick fruit regularly and carefully when young. Avoid overthinning to keep best mix of types.
