This variety does not spread and become a pest like wild varieties. Flowers open in the morning and fade by afternoon. Blooms from midsummer to fall. Ideal for arbors, trellises, fences or trailing down banks or from containers. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Sow seeds outdoors after all danger of frost has passed or for earlier blooms start indoors in individual peat pots 2 to 3 weeks before last frost. Soak seed in water for 24 hours prior to planting. Cover seed with 1/4 inch fine soil. THINNING & SPACING: Thin to 6 to 8 inches apart when seedlings are 4 inches tall. GERMINATION: 5 to 10 days at 70 F. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Do not over-water or fertilize. Plant in full sun in well drained average garden soil. Do not sow seed too early, grows best after weather has warmed. Somewhat drought tolerant once established. Start training the vines when about a foot tall.
