Marjoram

SWEET MARJORAM Majorana hortensis


An annual form of oregano with aromatic, sweet, flavorful leaves. It can be used fresh or dried. An ideal herb in meat dishes, with poultry, vegetables, soups salads and jellies.

Special Directions for Short Season Climates

SOWING: Sow seeds indoors in early spring or outdoors after all danger of frost. Cover with 1/16 inch fine soil.

SPACING: Place plants about 12 to 18 inches apart.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Thin and replant in individual pots or garden space when plants are two inches high.

GERMINATION: 10 days to 2 weeks. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

Ed's Special Advice

Use in landscape borders or patio containers. Pick leaves for drying when plant begins to bloom. Store leaves in airtight jars. Plant in sunny spot where soil is well drained. Pinch plant back to encourage bushiness.
