This mix blooms mostly pink shades of single hollyhock like flowers. Use them throughout the landscape, towards the back of planting beds or planted together to form a border or colorful summer hedge. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Sow seed directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil, firmed down. Can also be started indoors in individual peat pots 4 to 6 weeks before last frost. SPACING AND THINNING: Thin seedlings or carefully transplant peat pot started seedlings to about 18 inches apart. Leave about 12 inches if a hedge effect is desired. GERMINATION: 7 to 10 days. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Mallow is not particular about growing conditions. It grows best in a sunny location with average well drained soil. Keep fairly well watered during the heat of summer. Keep spent flowers picked to extend bloom period. Under used for many years Mallow is becoming more and more popular in the home garden.
