This mix blooms mostly pink shades of single hollyhock like flowers. Use them throughout the landscape, towards the back of planting beds or planted together to form a border or colorful summer hedge. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Sow seed directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil, firmed down. Can also be started indoors in individual peat pots 4 to 6 weeks before last frost. SPACING AND THINNING: Thin seedlings or carefully transplant peat pot started seedlings to about 18 inches apart. Leave about 12 inches if a hedge effect is desired. GERMINATION: 7 to 10 days. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Mallow is not particular about growing conditions. It grows best in a sunny location with average well drained soil. Keep fairly well watered during the heat of summer. Keep spent flowers picked to extend bloom period.
