SOWING: Start seeds indoors in March or April. Or, sow directly outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Plant in sunniest spot of entire garden. Barely cover seeds with 1/8 inch of light soil. Firmly press seeds into soil. Cover flat or planting bed from light until seeds begin to germinate. Seeds need darkness to germinate. As soon as seeds germinate, uncover and provide plenty of light.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Plant or thin to 6-9 inches apart, when seedlings are one to two inches tall.

GERMINATION: Approximately 2 to 3 weeks or longer.
