From early summer through fall, its large daisy like flowers are warmly colored in shades of gold, red and bronze. Makes great cut flowers grow towards the rear of informal beds and borders. Special Directions For Short Season Climates SOWING: Sow seeds from early to mid spring. Barely cover seeds with fine soil or firm into the ground with the back of your hand. Seeds can be started early indoors in individual peat pots. SPACING & TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin or carefully transplant 8 to 12 inches apart. GERMINATION: Two to three weeks. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Plants thrive in areas with full sun. Moderately fertile well-drained soil is ideal for Gaillardia.
