Easy to grow plants produce color through summer and fall. Excellent for use in edgings, beds, borders, containers and rock gardens. Cut flowers are fragrant, long-lasting and attractive. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Plant seed outdoors after soil warms and danger of frost has passed or start indoors 6-8 weeks before setting out. Cultivate soil and sow seed 1/8 inch deep in fine soil firmed down. THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Thin plants 6 to 10 inches apart. Transplant seedlings outdoors after danger of frost has passed. GERMINATION: One to two weeks at 70 F. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Dianthus prefers a sunny location with fairly well drained soil. Avoid over-watering. Keep flowers picked to prolong blooming. May live over in mild winter areas.
