CUCUMBER Marketmore 76 Slicing Cucumber Marketmore 76 is a very popular variety in the home garden. It is 8 to 9 inches long at maturity, dark green and is resistant to many cucumber diseases. It is an excellent slicer in salads and for other fresh uses. Approx. 66 days to maturity. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: For early plants start indoors in pots. Or seed directly into sunny area of garden after all danger of frost has passed. Cover with 1/4-inch fine soil. SPACING: In rows, leave 8 inches between plants; space rows 3 feet apart. Or place 6 to 8 seeds in hills that are spaced 4 to 5 feet apart. GERMINATION: Approx. one week in 70 degree temperatures; longer in cooler weather. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Rich, well-drained soil is ideal for cucumbers. Excellent soil additive: processed manure or compost. Water deep and feed every 3 weeks. Can be grown on trellis or fence for support. Pick fruit carefully and regularly for continued harvest.
