Hybrid Long Nantes Type
Extremely sweet national taste test winner. Deep orange in color, smooth in texture with long cylindrical roots. Very high in beta carotene and vitamin content. Ingot is an excellent variety for eating fresh, slicing, juicing and cooking. Carrot lovers, don't pass this one up! Approximately 70 days to maturity.
Special Directions for Short Season Climates
SOWING: Seed directly into the vegetable garden from as soon as soil is workable in early spring through mid summer. Cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil well firmed down.
SPACING: Rows can be 12 to 18 inches apart or closer if limited for space. Can be planted in wide rows 2 to 3 inches apart in all directions.
THINNING: When plants are 2 to 4 inches tall thin to 2 inches apart.
GERMINATION: 2 weeks in temperatures of 60 degrees. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed's Special Advice
Plant carrots at 3 week intervals for continuous harvest. Select a sunny location with rich well drained cultivated soil. Keep carrots weeded and water deeply. A side dressing of fertilizer is beneficial when tops are about 4 inches high. Begin harvesting when carrots are finger sized.
